Charles Stix, brothers Julius Baer and Sigmond Baer, and Aaron Fuller founded a department store in downtown St. Louis named the Grand Leader in 1892. The store grew to encompass an entire city block and the name was changed to Stix, Baer and Fuller. The company grew to 13 stores before being sold in 1984.
