William Jay Bickley was born April 3, 1906 in McClusky, Sheridan County, North Dakota to Ralph Nelson Bickley and Emolyn Alberta Delaney Bickley.

In 1920 William was living with his family in Dickinson, Stark County, North Dakota. By 1930 his father had passed away and his mother had remarried a Mr. Loren Hyde and the family was living in Gary, Lake County, Indiana. William was working as a machinist in a steel mill at that time.

William enlisted with the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II on August 14, 1942 and left the service on October 31, 1945, having attained the rank of Master Sergeant.

On November 7, 1946 William married Margaret Romaine Posgate. That union produced four children, William Jr., Jay, Shirley and Cindy.

William died February 16, 1998 in Loma Linda, San Bernardino County, California. He is survived by his wife Margaret, his four children and grandchildren.

William was laid to rest at the Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, California.
