Brian D. Pierce 1949 - 2009 Brian D. Pierce was born December 8, 1949 in Bakersfield, CA and left this world April 24, 2009 after bravely battling a prolonged illness. He graduated from Gadsden High school in Gadsden, AL in 1968, earned an A.A. degree from Bakersfield College in 1972. He worked with his father, Fred Pierce at County Fair Clothing in Lamont. In 1983, he went on to own Pierce Clothing. In October 2003, he retired from Harding Elementary School as a team custodian. Brian loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. His passion was working on cars, motorcycles and ATV's. He enjoyed racing go carts, motorcycles, and was a mechanic for the Kawasaki ATV Racing team. He loved watching NASCAR and going to the drag races. Brian is preceded in death by his father, Fred Pierce and stepmother, Kareen Pierce. He is survived by his son, Paul Pierce of Bakersfield, CA; daughters, Cathy Sabey, (Tracy) of Heber, UT and Julie Shapiro, (Jeremiah) of Herriman, UT, nine grandchildren; his loving mother, Frankie L. Pierce; and sister, Nila P. Swann, (Jack) of Birmingham, AL. Chapel services will be held on Thursday, April 30th, at Greenlawn Mortuary, 3700 River Blvd., at 10:00 a.m.
