Phoebe Freeman was born 1810 in Preble County, Ohio. She married 26 Mar 1831 in Preble Co to Benjamin Plew. To this union nine (known) children were born. About 1836/37 the family removed to Sangamon Co., IL in there area of Springfield. Her husband Benjamin Plew died 13 Dec 1860.
Nov 10, 1865 Phoebe Plew married a widower Samuel South. About 1867/68 Phoebe and her husband Samuel South along with her children and their families removed to Texas. Phoebe's brother Clarkson Freeman had made the move some eight years earlier. The family settled in the are of Lancaster where Phoebe died 8 Apr 1883.
