"The remains of the Hon. Wm. Lawrence, who died in Cleveland on the 2nd inst , arrived here on Friday evening and were taken to the residence of his cousin, S. B. Lawrence, from where the funeral occurred at the one o’clock Saturday afternoon. The corpse was accompanied by Albert Lawrence Esq., a brother, Keith and Margaret Lawrence, nephew and niece of the deceased, all of Cleveland. He was born in Washington December 1849, where he spent his boyhood days. A brief but impressive funeral service was conducted by Rev. A. E. Yeager, which was attended by a number of the old home friends of the deceased. Among the floral offerings was a beautiful piece from the B. P. O. E [Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks] of Mansfield, of which lodge he was a member ; also a large wreath of lilies, roses, carnations, etc., from John M. Amos & Sons, of the Cambridge Jeffersonian, which was especially beautiful. The pall bearers were R. S. Frame, T. J. Heiner, R. M. Hall, A. P. Frame, F. R. Creighton and A. L. Spence. Interment was made in the family lot in the Washington cemetery."
