Born, raised & died in Hurricane Utah. Parents William & Matilda Woodbury Ruesch. Her grandfather William Ruesch Jr was the second ditch (Hurricane Canal) rider and her son Bill was the last. Her parents named her Zona for their Arizona Strip Ranch at Antelope Springs since she was the first baby born to them after her father started homesteading. She had two older brothers Rondo and David and two younger sisters Joy and Rozel.
Winters they lived in a boarded-up tent in Grandpa Ruesch's back yard until they built a cement basement home which they lost during the depression. She spent her childhood playing under her Grandmother's quilts and in the hills around Hurricane. Summers and weekends were spent at the ranch where they sometimes held their own church. they lived in a dugout in the side of the hill with a dirt floor, gunny sack walls and a pasteboard ceiling until it was destroyed by fire in which she saved her two little sisters.
Her schooling was in Hurricane except for her sophomore year when she attended Woodward High in St.George as a member of the first graduating class (Woodward only went to 10th grade). She met her eternal mate, Calvin Spendlove Wright, at the AZ ranch when her father hired him because he heard Calvin was a good hand. They were married and sealed in the St.George Temple on May 25 1939, the day after her 12th grade graduation from Hurricane High. She and Cal adored each other. Their first home was a sheep wagon on the ranch which was destroyed by a fire where she saved their first baby. Then while living in a little granary in town, faulty wiring caused that home to burn and again she saved her baby. She survived three burnouts; no wonder she had such a great fear of fire.
Six children born, Rondo Calvin, Sheila, Kaye, Calleen, William Dell and Roxie.
She was active in many clubs and on committees.
Preceded by husband Calvin, son Rondo Calvin & daughter kaye, 2 grandsons, JCal's parents Richard & Annie Mary Spendlove Wright, his siblings Annie, Bonetta (infant), Maude, Ajetta, Eulalia, Sheldon, June, Flint, Veloy & LaVerd, her parents William and Matilda & siblings Rondo W., David W., Nola Ruesch, Joy Jordan, Rozel & Jim Seastrand. Survived by 4 children, a sister in law Marjory & brother in law Benny Jordan, 48 grandchildren, 140 great grandchildren & 7 great great grandchildren.

Arrangements under the direction of Metcalf Mortuary.
