On Monday, April 21, 2003 we lost our gentle giant, our loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend LaRaine Floyd McGee at age 75.

LaRaine was born January 24, 1928 in St. George, Utah to Ross McGee and Elsie Gifford McGee.

LaRaine grew up in American Fork and graduated from American Fork High in 1946. He married his childhood sweetheart, Dolly McCandless on November 16, 1949 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple and have enjoyed 53 years together. They made their first home in Salt Lake. LaRaine established McGee Construction Company in 1963 as a sub-contractor for Mt. Bell and retired in 2000 after 37 years.

LaRaine enjoyed his association with the Antique Car Club of America and traveled extensively with his wife and friends.

He is survived by his wife Dolly of Granite; children: Susan (Dennis) Tueller, Salt Lake; Gary (Jill) McGee, Granite; Kenneth (Gail) McGee, Layton; Kerry McGee, Sandy; Sheila Larsen; grandchildren: Torri (John) Slaughter, Colby (Mindy) Tueller, Troy Tueller, Lindsey Tueller, Rob (Amy) McGee, Laurie (Andy) Shea, Kelly McGee, Zak (Angel) Davis, Dylan (Jera) Robison, Amanda McGee, Madison Holm; and two great-grandchildren: Madison Shea and Andrew Davis. Additional survivors include his siblings: Irene (Ward) Despain, Lloyd (Marna) McGee, Colleen (Fred) Maynes, Leola (Elwin) Rees, Myrna (Kale) Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Gladys, Golda, and Elise; and brothers: Russell and Solon.

Funeral services were held Friday, April 25, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. in the Granite Ward Chapel, 9575 South 3100 East, Sandy. Friends visited Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Larkins Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy and at the church on Friday one hour prior to services. Interment was in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. Funeral directors Olpin Family Mortuary, Pleasant Grove, Utah.
