PATRICK EARL WILKINSON

Pat went to be with his Lord and savior at the age of 67 after a long battle with lung diseases. He was born in Dallas, Ore., the oldest child of Kenneth and Thelma Wilkinson. He great up in Falls City, Foster and Mill City. Pat graduated from Santiam High School in 1960 and went directly into the United States Army, where he served at Fort Ord, California; Etain, France; Fort Bliss, Texas; Vietnam and Fort Riley, Kansas. After returning from Vietnam, he married his lontime sweetheart, MELBA SMITH at Salem Foursquare Church in 1967.

When he left the military, he and Melba settled in the Salem/Keizer area, where they raised two daughters. Pat worked mainly as a welder for Little Ironworks, Pioneer Machinery and Salem Equipment. As his health declined, he went to work for Goodwill Industries and retired in 2004. he was a member of New Hope Foursquare Church since 1981 and was very proud to have been part of the crew who brought the building down the mountain from Valsetz and rebuilt it in its' current location on Swegle road in Salem. Pat enjoyed hunting, camping, bird watching, working outdoors and teasing his grandkids.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Pat is survived by his wife; his daughters, Suzette (Andrew) Moyer of Salem and Sonya (Ray) Blair of Keizer; his brother, Ronald (Evie) Wilkinson of Ephrata, Washington; sister, Charlotte Wilkinson of Stayton; grandchildren, Eric and Arianna Lindgren of Silverton, Taylor Moyer of Salem, Samuel, Riley, Sophie and Regan Blair of Keizer; aunts, Velma Beard of Anacorda, Washington and Pauline Middlemiss of Silverton; six nephews, three nieces, many great-nieces and nephews, and four godchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 1, 2009 at New Hope Foursquare Church, 4963 Swegle Rd. NE., Salem. Contributions can be made in care of the church's building maintenance fund. Interment will be private at Belcrest Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service.
