Jack A. Knowles, 54, who died of a heart attack Oct. 13, 1979, while on a hiking trip with his sons near Flagstaff, will be 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in Melcher Chapel of the Roses, 43 S. Stapley Drive. Mr. Knowles, 1315 E. Millett, was a test engineer for Talley Industries and a World War II veteran.

He was a member of Masonic Lodge 93, the 32nd Degree Masons, Desert Fly Casters, National Rifle Association, Rio Salado Gun Club and had been a deputy sheriff in Crawford County, Kan. He lived in Arizona 21 years and is survived by his wife, Betty; sons, Tim C. and William P..
