Frances M. Hauk, 96

Frances M. Hauk, 96, of Rushville, died Friday, July 18, 2003, at Rush Memorial Hospital in Rushville.

Born May 6, 1907, in Rush County, she was the daughter of Charles L. and Myrtle (Winkler) Smith, both deceased. She married Howard W. Hauk on Sept. 3, 1925; he preceded her in death on July 24,1952.

Mrs. Hauk had lived in Rush County her entire life. She was a 1925 graduate of Raleigh High School in Rush County. She had been a rural mail carrier in the Mays, Raleigh, and Falmouth areas during the 1940s and worked as a waitress and cook at the Park Restaurant in Rushville during the 1950s and '60s. She was a member of the llth Street Church of Christ in Rushville.

Survivors include one daughter, Wanda (Mrs. Clifford) Childers; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, three brothers, and one sister.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Moster & Cox Mortuary in Rushville, with Jerry Holdman officiating. Burial will follow in Bennett Cemetery in Shelby County Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary.
