Elkannah Hamilton Howard and Mary Elizabeth Denton were married in Washington County,Tennessee on 29 Oct 1829, and then moved to Vermillion County, Indiana, where their children were born. Some of them were aso married in Vermillion County. His younger brother, John L. and wife also moved to Vermillion County,Indiana.Their father had land across the state line in Vermillion County, Illinois. In John's will, his son "Elkany", was to sell his land grant there and send the money to Tennessee to be given to his children there. I'm assuming this land was a grant for either service in the Revolutionary War or the War of 1812. I have not search the records in Illinois, other than to find that he did indeed own land there. Elkanah and John and their families lived in Helts Township,Vermillion Co.,IN.
