John Arthur Kennett was born on Wednesday; March 12, 1941 in Independence; Buchanan County, Iowa. He was the son of Arthur Frederick Kennett and Violet Mae (Postell) Kennett. John graduated from Independence High School and served our country honorably in the United States Marine Corps from 1959-1963. On Saturday; June 13, 1964, John married Bonnie Thompson in Independence, Iowa. They were divorced in 1975. John had lived in Independence, Iowa until moving to the Iowa Veterans Home in September 2008. He enjoyed building projects, repairing things, welding, fishing, tinkering and recycling.
John Arthur Kennett, age 68, passed away on Saturday; April 25, 2009 at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown; Marshall County, Iowa. Those left to mourn his passing are: His three children: Kelly Kennett-Petrillo of Independence, Iowa. Shaun (Lia) Kennett of San Martin; Santa Clara County, California and Sonya Kennett of Jesup; Buchanan County, Iowa. His three granddaughters: Alasa, Amanda and Gracie. His two grandsons: Zachary and Trevor. His siblings: Janis (Allen) Thompson, Jerry (Pat) Kennett, Jaynie (Roger) Pint, Jeanne Kennett, Joni Kennett, Jill Kennett, Jack Kennett and Janette (Tim) Duffy. Several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. In death, he has rejoined his parents and his brothers: Jim Kennett and Joe Kennett. May they rest in peace.
