Gladys retired from Louisa Manufacturing Company after 28 years as a supervisor. She was an avid reader, loved flowers, friends and most of all, her family.
Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, Elic and Christine Fincham; her first husband, Joseph "Jim" Martin who was a casualty of World War II while in France; her second husband, Willard Franklin Martin; a daughter by her first marriage, Joyce Wilbur; a grandson; and 12 siblings.
Gladys is survived by her children, Willard Franklin Martin Jr. of Culpeper, Peggy M. Finley and her husband, Gerald, of Ashland, David O. Martin and his wife, Faye, of Louisa, Nelson K. Martin and his wife, Brenda, of Bumpass; 15 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at Woodward Funeral Home in Louisa.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 29, 2009, at Hillcrest Cemetery in Louisa, with the Reverend Robert L. Haley officiating.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Richard Rogers, James Wilson, Mark Smith Jr., Travis, Troy and Josh Martin.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Piedmont, 2200 Old Ivy Road, Suite 2, Charlottesville, VA 22903.
