Obituary from POST REGISTER (IDAHO FALLS, ID) - 28 JULY 2002:
Lora Ellen (Ellie) Hale, 75, of Oroville, California, formerly of Pingree, died July 25, 2002.
She was born February 17, 1927, in Pingree, Idaho, to George Allen and Mary Dellie Higby Reece. She was raised and lived most of her adult life in Idaho. She worked as a farm laborer in her early years, later as a waitress and then as a cook.
On September 10, 1949, she married Kenneth B. Hale. They ran a local watering hole in Pingree for a time, then opened a cafe in Rockford. She often talked about their 60-day adventure to New Zealand, and upon retirement, they enjoyed traveling and making many trips between Idaho and California to visit family.
She was a member of the Lioness Club and later a member of the Lions Club. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in Primary, Mutual and as Primary President. She enjoyed crocheting and quilting.
Survivors include her husband of Oroville, California; children, Cynthia Jo (George) Reed of Rockford, Idaho, LaTonne Sue (Ted) McWherter of Riverside, Idaho, Shirlee Kay (William) Morris of Oroville, California, James Alven (Debra) Hale of Palmyra, New York, and John Allen (Ada Mae) Wheeler of Ford, Washington; former son-in-law, Leland B. (Marie) Buzzelle of Oroville, California; a sister, Vivian Hansen of Winnemucca, Nevada; a brother, Steven Owen (Roxanne) Hale of Rigby; 13 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 30, at the Lakeview LDS Chapel. The family will meet with friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at the Hawker, Hill Funeral Home and for one hour before services at the church. Donations may be made to the LDS Missionary Fund or The Daughters of the Utah Pioneers Society. Burial will be in the Springfield Cemetery.
