WESTMINSTER, MD - Tina Lawrence Merritt, 44, of Westminster, Maryland , formerly of Carleton, Michigan and Neoga, Illinois, passed away at 3:00 a.m., Sunday in the Carol County Hospital in Westminster, Maryland.
Tina was born September 9, 1962 in Hammond, Indiana, the daughter of Jerry and Wilma J. (Johnston) Lawrence. Tina attended the Methodist Church in Shelby County. She married Kenneth Merritt on November 30, 2002, in Detroit, Michigan. Mrs. Merritt was a former employee of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Insurance Company for several years. She later was appointed general manger for the Medicare Division for the State of Maryland.
Tina leaves her husband Kenneth Merritt of Carleton, Michigan; one son Alex Merritt of Westminster, Maryland; one step daughter, Jeanette Merritt of Carleton, Michigan; mother, Wilma Lawrence of Neoga, Illinois; one brother, Joe Lawrence and wife Patty of Paw Paw, Michigan; two sisters, Pamela Padget and husband Ned of Marion, Illinois, and Bonnie Lawrence of Neoga, Illinois; five nieces and nephews, Ethan Lawrence of Neoga, Illinois, Shane Padget of Springfield, Illinois, Amber Hicks of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Bailey Lawrence and Cheyana Lawrence both of Paw Paw, Michigan.
Mrs. Merritt was preceded in death by her father and grandparents.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 17, 2006, in the Swengel-O'Dell Funeral Home of Neoga, with the Rev. James Maroon of Neoga officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. Tuesday until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Swedish Lutheran Cemetery west of Neoga, Illinois
