Claude "Ray" McMahon died in Beloit Hospital
on Jan. 6,1958 due to throat cancer. After several cobalt treatments he decided to stop treatments. He was born in Troy Center, Wi on Oct. 5, 1892, the son of Owen and Mary Ellen Baird McMahon. He married Marie Gust in East Troy on June 14,1922.
Ray worked on the family farm in Troy Center and later he and his brother,Ivan, drove milk truck for the creamery in Troy.
Ray was a veteran of World War I. He was the first of his family to move to Beloit(sometime between 1924 and 1926) where he was an employee of Wisconsin Power and Light Co. in the maintainence dept.
He is survived by his wife,five sons; Lt Cmdr Ivan(Vera)McMahon stationed in Hawaii,Claude McMahon Jr.,Edward(Rose)McMahon,Clarence "Jake"(Marion)McMahon,and Bernard(Shirley)McMahon all of Beloit, and a daughter,Estelle(Dean) Needham of Clinton Wi. Nine grandchildren,Raymond and Patricia McMahon of Beloit, Mary and Alan Needham of Clinton,Wi,Jim and Robert McMahon of Hawaii, Michael and David McMahon, and Bonnie McMahon all of Beloit, 3 brothers,Ivan(Estelle),Howard,both of Beloit and Samuel McMahon of California, and 2 sisters,Myrtle(Albert)Rayment of Rockford,and Mrs.Eva Snow of St. Paul Minnesota.. He was preceded in death by his parents,and one sister.

Burial is in Mount Thabor Cemetery in Beloit.
