Sylvia Payne, 79 of St. Augustine Beach, passed away Wednesday, May 14, 2008. Mrs. Payne was a wife, mother and business woman. Born and raised in Jacksonville, Fla.

The former Sylvia Spevak was married to Morton L. Payne, who predeceased her in 1990.

Sylvia owned and operated several businesses along with her husband, most notably "Sylvia's Things to Wear." Located in Palatka and Jacksonville, Fla., Young Ages Clothing located in Palatka and Morton's Gems also located in Palatka. Sylvia and her husband retired to St. Augustine in 1990, where she enjoyed playing Mahjong with friends and traveling.

Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. at Congregation Sons of Israel Cemetery where she will rest beside her beloved husband. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to Community Hospice N.E., 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257.

She is survived by her son, Alan Payne (Wendy); grandson, Seth; granddaughter, Elyse of Niceville, Fla.; daughter, Jacklyn Payne, Jacksonville Beach, Fla.; and brother, Sheldon (Claudia) of Jacksonville.
