Mrs. Dorothy R. Adcook, 78, of East Genesee Turnpike., Fayetteville, died yesterday in a Carthage area Hospital. She was the member of a pioneer family of Fayetteville dating back to the Revolutionary War Era. She was the daughter of the late George and Lillian Tucker Adcock.
Mrs. Adcook was the Superintendant of Art in the Weehawken School System in Weehawken, N.J., she was educated at the then Oswego Normal School (today it's the State University of Oswego.) She was a communicant of the United Church of Fayetteville. She was a member of Coterie of Fayetteville, the Monday Night Club, and in recent years the Senior Citizens Club of Fayetteville. During World War II, she worked in the Red Cross Canteen.
Mrs. Adcook is survivied by two sisters, Mrs. O. Gates Gridley of Fayetteville; and Mrs. Clark Johnson of Carthage; a nephew, Oliver Gridley of Fayetteville; two nieces, Mrs. Walter Hughes of Manlius and Mrs. E. Anthony James of Hellerton, PA.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, at the Eaton-Tubbs Funeral Home, Fayetteville. the Rev. David Muyskens pastor of the United Church of Fayetteville, officiating. Burial will be in Fayetteville Cemetery.
