Alexander Hamilton "Ham" Anderson was the son of Dr. William Nicks Anderson, born 1807 in Maury County, Tennessee and Susanna Louisa Dixson, born 1821 in Sullivan County, Indiana.

Ham Anderson was a first cousin to John Wesley Hardin ( Their mothers were sisters ) He was riding with John Wesley at the time of the shooting of Deputy Charles Webb from Brown County and involved in the killing of the deputy. He went on the run and could not stay away from Comanche because of his family. He returned and hid out at the Stone Ranch out near now days Proctor. The ranch owner told of him and his brother-in-law, Alex Barekman hiding out on the ranch. A company of Texas Rangers and the Sheriff of Comanche County went out looking for them and found them after 4 or 5 days of searching. They would not surrender and were shot and killed and returned to Comanche in a wagon and buried in an unmarked grave in Oakwood Cemetery, north of Comanche.

He was my great grandfather's first cousin. My great grandfather was Samuel A. Anderson, born Jan. 28, 1867 in Navarro County, Texas and died in Brown County, Texas on Feb. 18, 1937.

He married Henrietta Marie Chambers on Aug. 8, 1865. She was the daughter of Asa Chambers, former Post Master of Richland Crossing.

He was the father of three children :

1. Sarah Talitha Anderson - b.Aug. 30, 1866 - Navarro County, Texas

2. William Hamilton Anderson - b. Nov. 19, 1869 - NaVarro County, Texas

3. Lula A. Anderson - b. Aug. 2, 1872 - Navarro County, Texas
