She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Herbert C. Sanders, a retired civil engineer; one son, Judge Richard B. Sanders of the Washington State Supreme Court and her granddaughter, Laura, a graduating senior from the University of San Francisco. She is also survived by many relatives and friends in Houma, Alexandria, California and the state of Washington.
Sanders retired from teaching at Covington High School and held both a bachelor's degree and master's degree from Southeastern University. She was dedicated member of the American Association of University Women, and was a resident of Tchefuncte Club Estates in St. Tammany.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Her healthcare treatment was provided by Journey Hospice. Cremation services were entrusted to E.J. Fielding Funeral Home of Covington.
