According to his CSA records, PVT Lafayette Littleton Goodman was 6 ft. 2 in. tall, light complexion with hazel eyes and light color hair. He was medically discharged in 1863 due to "hydrocele and shock from fall of a tree fracturing two ribs and disturbing the function of the brain probably permanently."

He married his wife Irene Demery in Travis County, Texas on 25 December 1883.
