Vern Joseph Jenson, our beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, passed peacefully from this life on January 9, 1996 at the Veteran's Hospital.

He was born on September 22, 1903, to Hyrum Andrew Jenson and Amelia Christina Stephensen at West Jordan, Utah, where he resided his entire life. He attended schools in Jordan District and was studentbody president of Jordan High School.

He married Louise Atkinson in 1927. She died in 1955. They were the parents of two children: Gordon, who preceded him in death; and Colleen, who resides in Murray. He is grandfather to four children: Doug, Kennedy, Jim and Robby, who is deceased. He has a daughter-in-law, Ruth, who resides in Canada. He is survived by one brother, Marv Jenson, West Jordan, who assisted him faithfully throughout his declining years; also numerous nieces and nephews, whom he loved as his own children. His passing has reunited him with his parents; also his brothers, Reo, Christian, Pete and his sister, Vila.

Vern was a veteran of World War II and served four honorable years in the Pacific. Consequently, he was known as the "Brave Unc" to his nephews. He worked with mink in Oregon and West Jordan, and helped build the Shasta Dam in Oregon. He enjoyed working on his two-acre Jenson family farm and was well known for growing delicious cantaloupes. Vern was a High Priest in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and has served as a temple worker in the Jordan River Temple. He was loved by all who knew him. His optimism and sense of humor were contagious. He truly cared about others and had many friends.

A memorial service is planned for Monday, January 15, 1996 at 12 noon in the Bingham Creek 1st Ward, 1925 West 9000 So., West Jordan. Friends may call at Redwood Memorial Estates, 6500 So. 1700 West, Sunday, January 14 from 6-8 p.m., and one hour prior to the service.
