Catharina had a son, Niko Suchsdorf, before her marriage to Gustav Bahr. Catharina and Gustav had two children, Dorothea and Hermann Bahr. The family came to the United States to Knox County, Nebraska in 1910, leaving Niko Suchsdorf with the Suchsdorf family in Germany. Catharina used the name Juliana during her lifetime.
