Funeral services will be held this afternoon at the MacPherson Funeral Home at 2 pm for Fred Buck, 78, who died suddenly Tuesday morning following a brief illness. The Rev Smith Lain of Candor will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Berkshire.

Fred Julian Buck was born at Greene on Sept 4, 1875, the son of Daniel and Elida Benedict Buck.

He had resided here about 12 years and was employed at the Chesebro, Whitman plant until he retired a few years ago. Before moving here he operated a farm at Speedsville.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs Minnie Walker Buck; five sons, Robert, Francis and Frederick of Newark Valley, Wilfred of Nichols and Pvt Charles Buck, Turner Air Force Base, Albany, Ga; one daughter, Mrs Donald Keith of Dryden.
