With pen in hand and an aching heart, we will write the obituary of my beloved husband and brother in the Lord, Henry Adams. Henry was born May 2nd, 1904 and departed this life on August 25th, 1985. He was the son of John and Katie Hall Adams. Henry has two daughters, Marlene and Carlene, from a previous marriage. Henry later married Lorna Tackett. Unto this marriage was born one daughter, Lora Sue, who lived twelve days. God called her away to live with Him and His Angels, to wait and welcome her Daddy home. Oh! What a glorious meeting that must have been! And now they're waiting for me on Heaven's Golden Shore.

Henry began showing signs that he was thinking about the welfare of his soul when, on the fifth of March, 1981, we had company over for dinner. Brother Jimmy Hall sang and held prayer and rose to his feet preaching. With tears running down Henry's face, he ran into Brother Jimmy's arms, shouting, "I want to join the church." He was baptized March 15th, 1981, and came up out of the water shouting, Now I can go see my baby. He took his letter to the Old Elkhorn Church and later to be closer to his home, took it to the Old Union Church. When we moved to Michigan, he brought his letter to Little Ida Church. Henry's memorial will be preached August 30th and 31st, 1986, at the Little Ida Church, where dinner will be served on Sunday.

Henry always welcomed everyone with a warm and loving smile. I miss him so very much and my life is so lonely here without him. I am thankful to God, I can go to him and dwell in that Heavenly home when this life is over. So many long nights I sat by Henry's bedside when he was so ill, never closing my eyes. I would quietly pray for God not to take him from me. Many times, Henry would tell me how lucky he was to have me and that it gave him so much comfort just to know I was there. Henry loved his family dearly. His last weeks upon this earth were happy ones. He'd patiently watch and wait for some of our grandchildren to come visit him. They'd always bring him something, and their reward would be a beautiful smile.

Henry leaves a broken-hearted wife, Lorna, two daughters, Marlene Bowman and Carlene Suam, two step-daughters, Glenda Hall and Cora Adkins, seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren and seven step- great-grandchildren. One brother, Elder Milford Adams, half-brother Frank, two half-sisters, Mary Hamilton and Martha Hall, all of Kentucky.

Henry was preceded in death by his parents, John and Katie Hall Adams, four brothers, Robert, William, Freddy and John, and half-brother Melvin.

Brother Arvid Blevins wrote these next few lines about Henry: When I went to the hospital to visit Brother Henry, it pleased him and he always knew me. The last time I saw him alive was in the emergency room at Wyandotte General Hospital, the day before he went on to his eternal home. His doctor said to him, "Mr. Adams, your minister is here." He turned his head toward us, Sister Glenda Hall and I, and gave one of the most beautiful smiles I have seen on anyone's face. Brother Henry bore his sickness with the patience of Jobe and never complained.

Written by a broken-hearted wife, Lorna, and Brother Arvid Blevins.
