Funeral services for Clema Tannehill, 89, of Topeka, Kansas, were held January 8, 1999, at the Clinkingbeard Mortuary Chapel, Gainesville, with burial in the Lutie Cemetery.
Mrs. Tannehill died Friday, January 1, 1999, at a Topeka, Kansas hospital after a short illness. She was born May 8, 1909, in Dugginsville, the youngest daughter of Paton and Lucy Duggins. On September 29, 1928, she was married to Tandy L. Tannehill, who died July 20, 1987.
Mrs. Tannehill was a devout Christian and was very active in General Baptist churches for many years. She was a member of the Salem General Baptist Church, and the Branson General Baptist Church. She worked at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kansas for many years and retired from there in 1973. Clema and Tandy lived most of their retirement years in Theodosia. She was residing in a retirement home in Topeka at the time of her death.
Mrs. Tannehill is survived by one son, Ronald L. Tannehill of Topeka; four grandchildren, Stephen Tannehill of Branson, Denice Walker of Gainesville, Sherry Whistler of Topeka, Kansas, and Ted Tannehill of Topeka, Kansas; five great grandchildren, Jeremy Tannehill of Ozark, Trisha Tannehill of Branson, Brandon Wallace of Topeka, Kansas, Jared Walker of Gainesville, and Megan Whistler of Topeka, Kansas; one great-great granddaughter, Sydney Tannehill of Ozark; one sister Emma Swain of Flint, Michigan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her oldest son, Harold D. Tannehill on May 17, 1994; and her parents.
