He was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church and served as a deacon and elder for many years. In his young manhood, he married Rebeckah Hope (8/6/1787-12/19/1824), a daughter of John Hope and Jane Meek of York County. Among their children were John Hope Adams, Robert E. Adams, Susan M. S. Adams (McCully), William James Adams, Jane Meek Adams (Barnett) and Margaret E. M. Adams.

William Adams, Jr. died at his Crowder’s Creek farm home on February 26, 1870, at age 85, and is buried in Bethel Presbyterian Church cemetery with his family.
