Mr. Lansing attended Albany Academy, graduated from Williams College in 1855 and was a member of Kappa Alpha. He graduated from Albany Law School in 1857 and practiced law with his brother, William. He was a member of the NYS Senate and in 1882 & 1883 worked to create the establishment of the State Railroad Commission & Niagara Falls State Park. Director of several corporations and civic institutions including National Commercial & Albany Savings Bank, Albany Park Commission, Albany Hospital & Albany Medical College, Albany Academy, Albany Rural Cemetery and Dudley Observatory.
