Ruth C. Tornatore, of Syracuse and formerly of Canastota, passed away Wednesday at Van Duyn. Born in Medina, NY, she moved to Syracuse and was a graduate of Most Holy Rosary High School. She also was a graduate of Marywood College in Scranton, PA, along with post-graduate work at Syracuse University. Ruth taught home economics at Canastota High School for seven years and worked in sales at Canastota Hardware. Ruth and her husband, Michael B. Tornatore, wintered in Boynton Beach, FL, for 30 years and had a summer cottage on Oneida Lake. She was predeceased by her husband, Michael, in 1995; her sisters, Helen Brennan and Teresa Callaghan; and brother, Robert Callaghan. Survived by her sister, Jane Moynihan of Syracuse; several special nieces and nephews; and sisters-in-law, Rose Lucarelli and Katherine Farfaglia. A funeral service will be 9:15 a.m. Monday at Whelan Bros. & Hulchanski Funeral Home, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Michael's Church, Onondaga Hill. Burial will be in St. Agatha's Cemetery, Canastota. Friends may call on Sunday (today) from 2 to 5 p.m. at Whelan Bros. & Hulchanski Funeral Home, 3700 West Genesee St. Contributions may be made in Ruth's name to St. Michael's Church, 4782 W. Seneca Turnpike, Syracuse, NY 13215.
