Floyd Otto Howe was born in Jackson(Lucene area)Putnam, Missour in to Ida Victoria Reed and Lester Altho Howe.He had four sibling : Lloyd Raymond,Golda Marie, Eva Mae (died at age 10 months old)and Jaunita (died at age 11 months old). The two little sisters are believed to be buried in the Lucerne or West Liberty,Putnam county, Missouri cemeteries.
Floyd married Nora Agnes Morrison in 1817 in Putnam county, Missouri. The young couple traveled to Genoa, Lincoln county,Colorado with Floyd's parents and siblings to a farm his father had putchased. They hired a train and moved the entire family, farm equipment, feed, furniture, and other supplies. The farm wasn't what they expected, but they turned it into a prosperous farm. The house was a two story soddy, with a basement, the homestead ofthe Jensen family and is still inhabitable to this day.Floyd and Nora had one daughter,Gladys Pauline, before Nora passed away shortly after giving birth, due to an illness she contracted from nursing a neighbor's family. This may have been the Spanish influenza, since her year ofdeath was 1918.
Floyd married Mable Metz, but the brief marriage ended in divorce.
Floyd married Florance Jane Larson on 29 Feb 1928 in Genoa,Licoln,Colorado. Together they had six children: Robert Dale, Clifford Oral, Rose Marie, Dean Oliver and two babies, Henry Harold and David Quinton who died at or shortly after birth. Together they also raised Nora and Floyd's daughter,Pauline.
Floyd brought the family and farm through the depression years and was know to be an honest, hard-working,God-fearing man. Floyd had Parkinson's disease in his later years, complicated by a stroke, which lead to his death on 21 Dec 1966.
I will always remember him as one who loved people, farming, animals, floral tablecloths, and most of all...his family!
