Robert E. Moon was the son of William H. & Loucinthia (Walker) Parker. He married Juliett Crain ca. 1847.

Record of Service, Confederate States Army

Robert enlisted in the War Between the States on 11 February 1863 in Adams Run, South Carolina. He was a private assigned to the 16th South Carolina Regiment, South Carolina Volunteers, Company K. According to the muster rolls he was present for March and April 1863. May and June 1863 list him as " absent; sick in hospital in Montgomery, Alabama". There is an account statement signed by him that he received the sum of nineteen dollars and eighty cents on 20 June 1863 in Montgomery, Alabama for the "cummulation of rations while on sick furlough from June 19th to August 17th inclusion days at 33 cents per day". July and August 1863 list him as the same (sick; absent). September and October state the following " Died Oct 28 / 63, pnuemonia, hospital near Chatanooga, Tenn". His name appears on a Register of Deceased Officers & Soldiers from SC. A claim was presented by N.A McDaniel, Atty and filed on March 28, 1864

Robert's picture hangs in the 16th SC Confederate Museum on Boyce Street, in Greenville, South Carolina.

Robert was a brother to my great great grandfather, James T. Moon who also lost his life in the War Between the States. May God watch over our soldier angels...
