Christian committed suicide in 1900 by jumping off the Eads Bridge in St. Louis. Tragically, other family suicides would follow. His sister Margaret (wife of celebrated physician Eugene Bribach) shot herself to death in 1904 and Christian's nephew, Benno Bribach shot himself to death in 1909.
