O'NEILL - Funeral services for Scott Halsey, 40, of Chambers will be 2 p.m. Monday at Faith Community Church in O'Neill with burial in the Chambers Cemetery. The Rev. Steve Randolph will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service.

He died Thursday, April 23, 2009, at Avera St. Anthony's Hospital in O'Neill after a two- year battle with cancer.

Memorials may be directed to the Holt County Fair Board or Holt County 4-H Council.

Scott is survived by his wife, Amy; one son, Travis Halsey of Chambers; his parents, Keith and Hazel Halsey of Chambers; two sisters, Sharlene DeKay and her husband, Kevin, of Chambers, and Sharon Halsey of Aurora, Colo.; two brothers, Charles Halsey of Kansas City, Mo., and Gary Halsey and his wife, Tracy, of Chambers; four nieces and two nephews; his father- and mother-in-law, Gayle and Sue Baker of Aurora, Colo.; one sister-in-law, Heidi Ammons and her husband, Henry, of Aurora, Colo.; and a special friend, Gary Stauffer of Page.

Scott was born July 14, 1968, in O'Neill to Keith and Hazel (Shaul) Halsey. He grew up in the Chambers area and graduated from Chambers High School in 1986. On June 17, 1995, Scott married Amy Baker at the Faith Community Church in O'Neill. To this union, one son was born. Scott, Amy and Travis ranched north of Chambers.

Scott was a member of the Faith Community Church in O'Neill. He was very active in all aspects of the Holt County Fair, coordinating rodeos, horse shows, ranch rodeos and 4-H activities. He served on the fair board for almost 15 years including the past three years as treasurer. He served on the 4-H Council during these years as the fair board representative. He was the Cloverdale 4-H Club leader for many, many years. Scott was also a past member of the High School Rodeo Association and Ranch Rodeo Association.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, his brother, Wayne, and one nephew.
