Obit from Messenger of Truth Issue 25, 1944:

John M. Boeckner was born near Mt. Forest, Ontario, Canada, August 26, 1866. Died in the Mercy Hospital in Moundridge, Kansas, Nov. 12, 1944. He reached the age of 78 years, 2 months, and 17 days.

When 12 years old he with his parents moved on a farm near Plymoth, Neb., where he grew to manhood.
On January 6, 1898, he was married to Sarah Yost, of Swanton, Neb., with whom he mutually shared both joys and sorrows for over 46 years. To this union 5 children were born, 2 sons and 3 daughters.

In the year 1902 he and his wife were converted and upon the remission of sins and their faith they were received in the Church of God in Christ (Mennonite) through baptism, to which he remained a faithful and active member to his end. Out of a deep concern for his family's welfare he moved to his last home on earth, near Moundridge, Kansas.

Father Boeckner was of a fine Christian spirit, finding many fields of service for the Master, whom he loved and served in a consistant, humble, Christ-like way. Although of a quiet disposition his deeds spoke louder than his words.

On April 19, 1921, he was chosen by the church and ordained to the office of deacon. In this office he found many avenues of services, making many friends, and purchasing to himself a good degree, and boldness in the faith that is in Christ Jesus. He was a good support to the ministry, and the poor, as well as the different missions of church finding pleasure in service while sharing his blessings with others. Father Boeckner was a good neighbor, a kind and loving husband and father, as well as a loving Christian.

In the going home of this good man, we have lost a good neighbor, the family has lost a good father, and the church a faithful laborer and brother. But we wish to humbly bow to the divine wisdom, believing it is better to be absent from the body and present with the Lord.
He leaves to mourn his deeply bereaved wife, 2 sons, and 3 daughters. Mrs. George Dyck of Hesston; Aaron and Dan and Mrs. F. H. Wenger of Moundridge, 2 sisters, Mrs. N. G Roth of Plymoth, Neb., Mrs. David G. Roth of Albany, Oregon. Also 35 grandchildren, with a host of relatives and friends, but not as those who have no hope. One daughter, Verna and one grandchild preceded him in death.

Dear husband thou hast left me,
Here on earth to meet no more,
Yet a little while to linger
Then to greet you on yonder shore.
The Master's call came to our father,
Come home faithful one.
Yes our hearts are filled with sorrow,
Can we help but shed a tear?

Our dear grandpa, how we loved you,
How we'll miss your loving care.
But we hope again to meet you
Where we'll never say goodbye.
Father's work on earth is ended
Faithfully the cross he bore.
With untiring courage he labored
Till the Master's call, Come home.

Then goodbye dearest loved one
For this earthly time goodbye.
We know you will be waiting,
Till we meet you in the sky.
