OKOLONA – Peggy Joyce Taylor Carson, 63, died Friday, April 24, 2009, at her home. She was born Feb. 10, 1946, in Aberdeen to Thomas E. Taylor and Easter Lee Woods Taylor. She graduated from Aberdeen High School and from Itawamba Community College with a degree in business administration. She was a housewife and a councilwoman, currently serving on the Okolona City Council. She was a member of the Carnation Baptist Church in Okolona. She was active in the civic life of Okolona and had a great love for people and for life in general. An avid conversationalist, she enjoyed traveling, reading, her flowers, her yard and swimming pool. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy and she will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday from the First Baptist Church of Okolona with Bro. Truman Carter officiating, assisted by Bro. Robert Earl Fowlkes. Burial will follow in the Howell Cemetery in Monroe County. Holland-Harris Funeral Directors, Okolona Chapel is in charge of all arrangements.

Survivors include her husband, Craig Carson of Okolona, who she married Feb. 18, 1994; her mother, Easter Lee Taylor of Aberdeen; three daughters, Angel (Kenny) Steen of Tupelo, Amanda (Dewayne) Brown of Bartahatchie, Miss., and Missy Graham of Columbus; two sons, Dale (Laurie) Robertson of Bartahatchie and Terry (Anita) Robertson of Columbus; eight grandchildren, Memory, Karci, Cameron, Brandon, Dayton, Lee, Courtney and Stacie; two great-grandchildren, Patience and Trevor; two sisters, Judy Taylor and Betty Dye, both of Aberdeen; two brothers, Charles Taylor of Tyrone, Ga., and Murrell Taylor of Mooreville.

She was preceded in death by her father; a son, Chad Sides, who died Sept. 19, l992; and a grandson, Cross.

Pallbearers will be Danny Taylor, Steve Thomas, Chuck Carson, Chris Carson, Steve Colbert and Larry Harden.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. today and from noon until 1:45 p.m. Sunday at the Okolona chapel.
