OBITUARIES
James H. Eglin, 55, of Elyria, died Sunday at New Life Hospice of St. Joseph Residential Center in Lorain following complications from a heart attack.
Born in Cleveland, he graduated from North Ridgeville High School in 1966 and had been a resident of Elyria since 1971.
He served with the U.S. Air force from 1967-1971 and was stationed in Vietnam.
He earned his BA degree from Ashland University in 1992 and his MBA from Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea. He also was certified as a quality engineer, quality auditor and quality technician.
Mr. Eglin was employed as a quality assurance manager at DCM Manufacturing, Inc. in Cleveland. In 2004, he visited China, instructing and training quality control in several factories.
He was an adjunct instructor at Ohio Business College in Elyria, where he taught computer fundamentals and an instructor at Meyer's University in Lorain, where he taught business management courses.
Mr. Eglin was a member of American Society of Quality, Cleveland Section 800 and he formerly attended Cross Community Church in Elyria.
He enjoyed operating amateur radio WD81DN, computers and playing chess.
Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Diana M. (nee Smith); father and stepmother, Robert and Sandy Eglin of Indiana; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Esther Eglin.
Friends may call 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Busch-Curtis-Scheuffler Family Chapel, 114 Second St., Elyria.
Friends also may call from 10 a.m. Thursday until the time of service at 11 a.m. at Cross Community Church, 525 N. Abbe Road, Elyria.
The Rev. Rudi Swanepoel, senior pastor will officiate.
Interment will be in Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.
Memorials may be made to New Life Hospice, 5255 N. Abbe Road, Elyria.
