My dad Robert Besanson nickname was Biz. A lot of people didn't even know his real name was Robert.
Later in life some of his coworkers did called him Bob, but if you were a good friend or relative, his name was Biz.

My father was in the US Navy for 22 years, July 4, 1942 to July 24, 1964. His service number was, 305-33-00. After he retired, the Navy Fleet Reserve Association built the US Navy Memorial in Washington, D.C. and they also had a book written as a tribute to the men and women who had served their country well in war and peace. In this book called "Brothers of the Sea" You could have a small biography of 150 words or less and two pictures, one historic picture and one recent. I remember my father and mother discussing how can you fit a 22 year career (biography) into 150 words or less. My dad was a little pissed off, but what could he do? He finally did send two pictures and a small biography. One picture was of him in his sailor uniform taken in 1942, and the other picture was taken in 1989.
These pictures and this little tiny biography can be seen on page 290 in the book "Brothers of the Sea."

This is the little Biography that is in the book "Brothers of the Sea." on page 290.
