Letter from Lonnie Goines to Thord Dockery: "My parents [John Hugh and Laura A McBay Goines] and Aunt Dovie [John Melvin and Dovie Mandy McBay Blackman] and Aunt Nancy [Dr. Elijah Hampton and Nancy {Nannie} J. McBay Hesterly] are all put down here in the Valley View Cemetery just under the hill from where my daughter lives now. Also, Grandpa McBay was put beside Aunt Nancy but he doesn't have a stone to go by..."
G. M. McBay enlisted in Dawson's 19th Arkansas Infantry, Company C, CSA 19 Oct 1861. He was captured at Arkansas Point 11 Jan 1863 and sent to Camp Douglas, Chicago, IL. Exchanged 10 Apr 1863. Slight chest wound at Chickamauga, GA 20 Sep 1863.
