Robert R. Dennis, 89, formerly of Adamstown, died Wednesday, April 22, 2009, at the Ephrata Community Hospital. His wife, Arlene Good Dennis, died January 27, 2000. Born in Voganvillle, PA, he was a son of the late Rufus and Minnie Sweigart Dennis. He was a retired self-employed carpenter. He was a member of Cocalico Church of the Brethren, a former Deacon for 40 years and youth advisor. A veteran of WWII serving in the US Army, he fought in the Battle of the Bulge and Normandy. He was an avid gardener.

Surviving are 2 children: Brenda S. (Allan D.) Meckley of Denver and Brian L. (Joanne) Dennis of Columbus, OH; 3 grandchildren, 2 great-granddaughters; and sister, Betty (John) Zimmerman of Denver. He was predeceased by brothers, R. Raymond and Lester Dennis.

Funeral Saturday at 11:00 AM at the Cocalico Church of the Brethren, 225 S. Cocalico Rd., Denver, PA 17517. Viewing on Friday from 6-8:00 PM at the Roseboro Funeral Home, 533 Walnut St., Denver, PA and at the church on Saturday from 10-11:00 AM. Interment in Groffdale Mennonite Cemetery with military honors by the Red Rose Veterans Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to his church.
