Charles E. Grant's genealogical lineage has been documented by the NSDAR.

According to the book, PORTRAIT AND BIOGRAPHICAL ALBUM OF HURON COUNTY, Pg. 384, which is found at The University of Michigan On-line Library or on "www,": "CHARLES E. GRANT was a farmer, section 7, Winsor Township. He was born in Osnabruck, Stormont County, Ontario, and is the son of ROBERT GRANT (1789-1865) and MARY (PAPST) GRANT (1798-1877). ROBERT and MARY (PAPST) GRANT had 12 children, of whom, CHARLES E. is the 11th. in order of birth.

CHARLES E. GRANT received a common-school education in the Dominion, and in 1863 came with his parents to Winsor Township (Huron Cnty, MI). He was married in March, 1860, in Aldborough Township, Elgin Co., Ont., to MARY GRAVES. Although raised by Presbyterian parents, Charles E. was Baptized by the local Community of Christ Church, in Bayport, MI on March 6, 1887, by J.J. COMISH. He was then Ordained-Teacher in 1887, and Ordained-Elder in November of 1902. Mr. GRANT is a decided Republican, and he has served his township as Highway Commissioner, as Treasurer two terms, and also as a school officer."

CHARLES E. GRANT and MARY E. GRAVES-GRANT are known to have had ten children according to an 1880 U.S. Census Report and a marriage record (1906) for Bayport, Michigan. These records were found on They raised their children on a farm which was located on the road that goes from Wildfowl Bay on M-25 to Kilmanagh (Bayport Rd.). Extended family members with farms on this same road were the Graves family, the Pincumbe family, and the Harder family. CHARLES E. and MARY GRANT'S children are as follows:

Lastly, Charles E. Grant descends from very old and historic families. On his mother's side, he is descended from the Loyalist Revolutionary War veteran, Johan Adam Papst (1732-1807). On his father's side, Charles E. is descended from another Loyalist Revolutionary War veteran, Dr. James Stuart/Stewart (1711-1804) Another source of ancestral pride for the Grant family is their Scottish heritage, and their membership in both the "Clan Grant" and the "Clan Royal Stuart".
