Wilma M. Cornett was born on July 31, 1927, in Eubank, KY, to Augustus and Sallie Roark Cornett. She lived with parents and siblings on a farm on Old Liberty Road, being the youngest at this time. She attended the local schools of the area for a short while. During the Great Depression, Wilma M. Cornett likely faced hardships like joblessness and scant resources. By 1935, she and family moved to Whitney Co, KY and lived on a farm, then again, they moved to a farm in Waynesburg, Lincolin Co, KY. Her mother, Sallie passed away on May 14, 1939. when Wilma was only 11 yrs old. She lived with widowed father and siblings on a farm, on Ellison Road. Wilma saw the US declare war on Japan just one day after the attack on Pearl Harbor that killed 2,400 Americans. Wilma married Robert David Roach in Somerset, KY, on June 4, 1954, when she was 26 years old. They moved to Crawfordsville, IN, where her son, Robert Michael was born on January 25, 1956, being the first child to this union. Her father, Augustus passed away on October 5, 1958. He moved in with her and family 1 year after finding out he had cancer. Her son, Timothy Augustus was born on September 22, 1961. Wilma died on November 10, 1978, when she was 51 years old, from cancer of the pancreas, like other members of this family has died from. She is buried in Oak Hill Cemetery, Crawfordsville, Montgomery Co, IN. No obit has been found for her.
