A.R. Nelson Dies
Former Plover Blacksmith Succumbs to Bright's Disease
Almond Ruey Nelson, aged 44 years, died at his home at Plover Thursday at 3:55pm of Bright's disease. He had not been well for a couple of years but had not been considered seriously ill until about two weeks ago.
Mr. Nelson was a son of Gardner Nelson and was born in Stevens Point Aug 14, 1872. On reaching maturity he took up railroading which he followed for some time. Later he conducted a farm in Liberty Corners and about seven years ago moved to Plover where he conducted a blacksmith shop until last fall when he gave up work.
Mr. Nelson was married in Stevens Point Nov. 22, 1895, to Miss Anna Gardner [sic]. Four of their seven children, Lawrence, Stella, Roalie, and Gertrude, besides Mrs. Nelson survive. The children range in ages from 16 years to 6 months. Garnder Nelson, the father, and a sister of A. R. Nelson, Mrs. Etta V. James of Brocket, N.D., also survive.
Gardner Nelson, who is a veteran of the Civil War and has been a resident at the Wisconsin Veterans Home near Waupaca, now lives at the home of his son at Plover.
The funeral was held from the Methodist church at Plover Saturday at 2 pm, the Rev. George A. Tennant officiating. Burial was at Forest cemetery here where Mr. Nelson's deceased children are buried.
