'Though born in Bundaberg, Queensland, Jack was living with his mother Ada Brennan in Mackay when he enlisted in the Army in that city on 19 July 1940.

A member of "F" Force, he was admitted to Kanchanaburi F & H Hospital No. 2 Camp with Dysentery.

His body was exhumed from Grave 111 at Kanchanaburi No. 4 Burial Grounds and re-interred at Kanchanaburi War Cemetery in 1946.

He is commemorated in Australia at The Australian War Memorial, Canberra; The Ex-POW Memorial Wall, Ballarat, Victoria.
