MACON - Otis Davis, 87, passed away on Monday, April 20, 2009. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at 3 P.M., at Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. Entombment will be in Macon Memorial Park Mausoleum with Rev. Rod Callihan and Rev. Roy Tolbert officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 21, 2009 from 7:00 until 9:00 P.M., at Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. -Mr. Davis was born in Wilkinson, County to the late James Henry and Sallie Mae Vinson Davis. He served in the United States Army during World War II in the 825th Tank Destroyer Battalion. -Mr. Davis was retired from Macon Water Authority as a field service supervisor and he coached the Water Authority Softball Team for many years. He was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather, he built his family a swimming pool and built several houses for his family. -He is survived by his beloved wife of sixty seven years, Melba Leonard Davis of Macon, son and daughter-in law, Larry and Clarice Davis of Byron, daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Randy Frost of Musella, grandchildren; DeLynda D. Tweedell (Hank) of Arnoldsville, GA, Lisa Arnold of Macon, Brandy Burchfield (John) of Buford, GA, Leighton Arnold of Ithaca, NY, Brad Davis (Anita) of Centerville, April Faircloth (Joe) of Byron, Corey Heard of Valdosta, Kimberly Griffin (Travis) of Valdosta, great grandchildren; Ansley Tweedell, Carrie Tweedell, Ashton Burchfield, Gavin Burchfield, Chloe Arnold, Drew Davis, Fletcher Wade, Jessica Wade, Abbi Heard, Tristan Griffin, Larry and Nina Morrison, sister; Janie Weaver of Macon, brother; William Davis (Barbara) of Byron, best friends, Larry and Judy Chapman of Gordon. -Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery has charge of the arrangements.
