MACEDONIA - William D. "Bill" Fisher, 89, passed away peacefully Monday afternoon in Whispering Oaks in Marion.

Bill was a retired farmer and a lifetime resident of the Macedonia area.

He was born April 29, 1919, to Pender and Allie Fisher.

Bill married Earlene Boyles on Aug. 20, 1940. He was a loving husband, and he and Earlene enjoyed 68 years together.

He was an active member of Liberty Baptist Church. He served on many service boards and many community committees throughout his long years including Hamilton County Telephone Board, Farm Bureau Board, Benton Hospital Board and as a 4-H advisor.

Bill was proud of his family. He had a great many friends he had made through his interests in church, community, camping and hunting. He had wanted his friends to know how much he appreciated their visits and caring nature.

Survivors include, his wife; one daughter, Brenda and her husband Jeff Ferguson of Marion and Davenport, Fla.; two granddaughters, Terri and her husband Jerry Ryan of Herrin and Tami and her husband Matt McDermott of Davenport, Fla.; three great-granddaughters, Micha Rotz (18) of Herrin, Brittany (11) and Cassie (10) Moore of Davenport, Fla.; and fivestep great-grandchildren, Katie and Kimmy McDermott, and Kyle, Nicole and Tyler Ryan; niece, Phyllis Miller of Thompsonville; and nephew, Donald Hutchcraft of Macedonia.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Kathryn Hutchcraft; and a brother, Glenn Fisher.

Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. in Morton and Johnston Funeral Home in Benton. Interment will be in Macedonia Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to a scholarship fund for Bill's great-granddaughters or Liberty Baptist Church.
