In 1850 and 1860 he resided in Kenosha County, Wisconsin, first at Pike with their son Roswell and family and later with Roswell at Somers.
In the "New England Historical and Genealogical Register" [Volume IV, 1850, pg 161], information was supplied by Erastus himself in which he stated he was grandson of Robert Otis who immigrated from Ireland and Margaret Sabin of Lyme, Connecticut, and further stated he was born in Canaan, New Hampshire in October of 1783 (gravestone has 1784).
He was a Methodist minister.
