LeRoy A. Disbro, 90, passed away Wednesday, June 2, 2004 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Hospital, Kokomo, following an extended illness.

He was born April 28, 1914 in Jasper, Mich. to Clark L. and Nola Baker Disbro. He married Lorraine R. Parkhurst Aug. 16, 1939, and she preceded him in death July 8, 2002.

Disbro was a retired Wabash/Norfolk & Western Railroad conductor after 48 years. In his retirement years, he was a conductor for the Leelanau scenic railroad in Traverse City, Mich., where his wife also served as a hostess.

He also was a member of the New Waverly Methodist Church, and attended Mayfield Chapel Church, Mayfield, Mich. He was in the high 12 York Rite Masonic Lodge in Traverse City, Mich., started one in Peru and was a member of the Peru Masonic Lodge and the York Rite.

As a youth he was a lifetime member of the North Michigan Civilian Conservation Corp, he rang the Salvation Army Christmas fund-raising bell for many years and was active in the Odd Fellows Lodge in Peru. He and his wife enjoyed spending time at their Spider Lake cabin near Traverse City, Mich.

Survivors include two sons, LeRoy E. Disbro, Marion, and Larry R. Disbro and wife Nola "Chris," Peru; eight grandchildren, Scott, Lynnette, Andrea, Lora, Cheryl, Misty, Michell and Rachel eight great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Wendell Disbrow, Tecumseh, Mich., and Doyal(sic) Disbrow, Grand Rapids, Mich. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; two brothers, Rex and Robert, and a sister, Rena.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, with the Rev. James Lund officiating. A Masonic service will be at 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park, Cass County. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
