Samuel was the son of Zachariah Rogers and Elizabeth Carr, who was a native of Pensacola, Fla., and of Spanish descent; they lived in Wayne Co., Ms. from 1806 thru 1860.
Samuel's grandson, Dr. LaFayette F. Rogers (1879-1975), optician and legislator of Cullomburg, MS, has his biography included in the "History of Alabama and Dictionary of Alabama Biography."
