The Vail family came from Long Island, New York, to North Carolina. Her siblings were Jeremiah, John, and Edward Vail.

She married first Frederick Jones, Esq. [one ref. states "of Hayes Plantation in Chowan Co., NC"; however the Hayes Plantation belonged to the Johnston family during this time period.]

She married second Colonel William Wilson, who built about 1735 Clermont a colonial brick mansion near New Bern, NC, destroyed by Union forces in 1863.

She married third about January 4, 1747, "King" Roger Moore, builder of the older part of Orton Plantation near Wilmington, NC, in 1735. His first home built their in 1925 was destroyed by Indians. He was the son of Governor James Moore. Roger was born in Berkeley Co., SC, Aug 24, 1694; died in North Carolina Oct 20, 1759; buried at Orton Plantation, Brunswick Co., NC. He had two children from a previous marriage: a. William Moore; b. George Moore.

Mary and Frederick had three children:

1. Harding Jones, d. bef. 1758
2. Frederick Jones, d. ca 1758; estate probated in Craven Co., NC, 1758, with Joseph Leech Executor
3. Mary Jones, liv. 1758

Mary and William had one daughter:

2. Elizabeth Wilson, liv. 1759; m. in Craven Co., NC, 1756, Richard Spaight (1730-1763)
