Apparently this artilce was written about him while he was still alive, then there was an obit about him
One of best known and highly respected citizens of Arcadia, now in 79th birthday. His birhtyda was on March 2, 1928. Mr. Smeltzer enjoys good health and drives tractor, plant 20 acres of corn for his son, Ivan Smeltzer, who lives near Tipton.
Daniel was born on old Smeltzer homestead, three miles northwest of Arcadia march 2, 1849, spent his boyhood days in that community. Fifth son of eleven children born to john and Maria Smeltzer, and the famly four of them are living right now, Daniel, the subject ofthis sketch, Moses of near Seymour, Mrs. J.P. Kinder, ofArcadia, and Mrs.Anna Buchann of Cicero.
Talked about his life history, don't use liqours or tobacco, excellent example to his children, Member of the chruch of Brethren for 50 years, deacon in church for 49 years.
Mr and Mrs Smeltzer live in Arcadia, children are: Mrs. Mollie Brill of Arcadia, Frank Smeltzer of Pyromont, Mrs. Nola Mosbaugh east of Cicero; John Smeltzer of Pyromont, Ivan Smeltzer of near Tipton and Mrs. Grace Sigo, of Arcadia.

Sudden Death of Pioneer
Community shocked Thursday morning at sudden death of his home in Arcadia of Daniel Smeltzer for almost 83 years as a resident of Atlanta-Arcadia community and one of the best known citizens.
Daniel was born 3 miles norhwest of Arcadia, March 2, 1849 and exception of one year spent in Noblesville, never lived more than 3 miles from his home town.

At three a.m. Thurs morning the aged man woke his wife up telling her that he had a severe pain in his back and before medical assistance came, he was dead. Thier son, John lives in California so put hold on funeral arrangements.
Daniel Smeltzer one of children was born to John and Maria Smeltzer, pioneers of the Atlanta-Arcadia community. Twice married
1. Phoebe Caylor died number of several years ago Had four children who survive the first marriage, Mrs. Ollie Brill, Mrs.Nola Mosbaugh of Hamilton county and John of Modesosto,California, and FRank of Pyromont.
Several years after death of his wife, he married to Miss Diasy (Snowy?) clipping was bent who survives with the following children of second marriage ? Floyd of Pyrmont, ?? Mrs. grace Sego??? he also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Anna Buchann of Cicero and Mrs. J.P> Kind???? of Arcadia and 19 grandchildren..That newspaper clipping was "bent" over when copied onto the paper, so unfortunately some names were "blurry"
